The Solo is an affordable GPS-based lap timer and performance monitor. Installation is easy in any car with it’s built-in battery (or it can be attached to a 12V accessory plug), and built-in GPS antenna so there is no wiring that has to be done. The two magnets on the back of the Solo allow quick attachment to the included bracket, and there is even an optional suction cup window mount for more flexibility.
Solo includes a USB port and can be used with the same Race Studio 2 software as the data loggers to review speed, GPS track maps, even the G-forces. With GPS handling the lap timing there is no need for an IR beacon — load up to 200 tracks you visit, and the Solo will automatically start timing you when you cross the start/finish line! And it won’t just time laps, but can show you predicted lap time (based on your best lap so far), and keep track of your fastest lap. You can review your lap times right on the display, or download the data to your computer for further analysis.
Two models are available, the Solo offers basic logging of GPS data and lap time, and the Solo DL adds the ability to connect ECU Bridge or RPM Bridge to capture information from your Engine Control Unit (ECU).
EVO4S is the evolution of the popular EVO4. It maintains the same connection logic, one connector per channel, but with a completely redesigned internal electronic board, fully compatible with the latest generation of AiM Displays and with the new powerful Race Studio 3 software. AiM’s EVO4S is available in several configurations. The basic EVO4S, with 4GB of memory, 5 external user-configurable channels, GPS08 Module (provides speed and lap times without additional sensors), built-in 3-axis G-sensor (and 3-axis gyro) and support for CANbus expansion or ECU connection is $1,199. For $1,399 get an EVO4S bundled with a steering wheel mountable GS-Dash. Sensors and patch cables for the EVO4S are sold separately.
The GS-Dash is a steering wheel mountable (5″ wide x 3-1/4″ high) LCD display with 7 different select able backlight colors. Extremely flexible with up to eight different page layers, five shift lights (choose from seven different colors) and four alarm lights, all of which are user configurable. It comes bundled with the EVO4S kit or can be purchased separately for $429.
All AiM systems use the same sensors, and water-resistant Binder connectors. AiM calls wiring that runs between the sensor and the logger, Patch Cables and they are available in these standards lengths: 19″/.5m, 39″/1.0m, 59″/1.5m, 78″/2.0m, 98″/2.5m, 118″/3.0m and 157″/4.0m. Patch cables for the EVO4 and legacy XGLog have screw on metal connectors on the logger side and plastic snap type connectors on the sensor end. CAN expansion device allows the user to connect multiple devices, such as the Channel Expansion Hub, Thermocouple Hub, LCU-One Lambda Controller, GPS05 and SmartyCam HD. Available in either a two port version with separate power & ground wiring for karts or four ports for use with AiM single expansion port data loggers such as the EVO4 and MXL Pista/Pro.
This compact CAN device provides virtually endless data acquisition system expansion options. Channel Expansion hub adds up to four freely configurable analog (or two digital and two analog) channels without occupying or modifying any of the existing system channels.
GPS technology represents a true revolution in data acquisition. Thanks to GPS08 Module and its GPS Manager software, you can immediately get laptimes and all data needed for engine tuning as well as for improving driving technique. GPS08 Module is fast in satellite signal acquisition and reliable in adverse situations: it includes in a single unit both receiver and antenna, for immediate installation. Lightweight and waterproof, GPS08 Module is connectable to AiM loggers via CAN cable.
LCU-One Lambda Controller
LCU-One Lambda controller range of products allow you to perfectly tune the carburetion of your engine as well as keep it at its best, appreciably improving your car performances.
All LCU-One lambda controllers use a wide band Bosch LSU 4.9 probe either for its capacity of saving the original calibration for its all life and for its duration: Bosch LSU 4.9 probe, in fact, has been designed to last for more than 100.000 km on a stock car.
With TC Hub four additional thermocouples can be connected via CAN to EVO4 and MXL Pista/Pro05 logger.
Using more TC Hub you can easily keep under control all your temperature sensors data, monitoring each single cylinder exhaust gas temperature, together with water, oil and head temperatures.

Engine rumble causes vibrations, which are not a good thing for video recording.

A lens specifically designed for motorsports must be robust, must be able to work when the engine rolls 100 times per second, and have good resolution and brightness.
But above all a lens designed for motorsports must reduce distortion, which is a typical problem of lenses used by generic action-cameras: objects placed at ten meters’ distance look very far, making it impossible to accurately determine whether the track is straight or curved.

On-board cameras are to be installed inside the car. Where should the display be placed to check the correct position of the camera?
The SmartyCam HD 128×128 pixel TFT color display is on the front, not on rear – where general cameras place the viewfinder.
HD cameras competition is focused on the highest pixel number. The result is that their video files are far too large, taking too much memory.
SmartyCam HD videos have the same quality as other HD cameras but their files are smaller because the H264 compression system parameters have been optimized to a perfect balance between video quality and file size.
You can choose among three video file quality levels: one-hour recording takes 4GB (high quality), 2GB (normal) or 1,5GB (low).
Files are stored on SD cards: with current SD cards reaching 128GB capacity, you can record more than 30 hours of high-quality videos without changing the card.
